Career and student learning issues brought to you by Massey University’s Careers Service – New Zealand

This is me - the blog's primary writer

This is a blog about tertiary-level study, from the angle of careers guidance in the main.  Why this angle?  Easy really, its because I’m a career consultant for Massey University in New Zealand and have made a career of careers work – here and in the UK.

I’m a Scot (Glasgow born); have been in NZ for six years; am pretty new to blogging (so be patient with me) and work primarily for Massey’s (thousands of) extramural students – i.e. those studying at a distance.   However, this blog is a team effort and contributors will include colleagues in our counselling and career services.

What does Massey’s careers service do then?

Well, we offer a service to current Massey students and recent Massey graduates – and to those thinking of studying at the University.  We also offer a service to employers and help Massey staff in their work with students.  Our work ranges from  assisting students and graduates to generate and explore career ideas and the career implications of  their subject choices, through identifying and researching potential employers to applying for work or further study.

Employers are offered advice on recruitment strategies, profile raising and ways in which they might publicise job opportunities to qualified and motivated Massey students and graduates.

Now, meet the team here.
